LEITWERK Consulting - Integrated management systems

Integrated management systems

Different customer requirements regarding process and quality management standards, legal norms or own requirements are often considered separately from each other despite potential synergy effects. At the same time, there is a lack of quality awareness among employees.

Integrated management systems create efficient process improvements and, in addition to increased quality awareness, also strengthen the customer focus of the entire organisation. By combining different management systems, you utilise the synergies of quality and process standards as well as other norms to ensure the implementation of your corporate strategy sustainably and effectively.

Project examples

ISO transition and further development of a process model

Scope of commission

The assignment includes the development of a new process model following an extensive reorganisation. The aim was to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (quality management) and 14001 (environmental management) with regard to the company's processes. The client team of a leading manufacturer of household appliances was supported by six experienced LEITWERK consultants.

Initial situation

Based on the corporate strategy, a process map was initially defined, which still had process gaps in some areas. A process orientated approach was chosen for the definition and control of future processes with the aim of mapping all operational activities in processes. The requirements from the two ISO standards also had to be applied to the process model

Solution approach

LEITWERK proposed an integrated management system based on a comprehensive analysis of the processes. Quality and environmental monitoring were thus bundled into a comprehensive system. Missing processes were identified and the process owners were supported in describing the processes. The requirements of ISO 9001 and 14001 were assigned to the processes throughout the company, integrated into the process descriptions and approved as an overall system.

Results

The result was complete documentation of all company processes down to process step level (level 3). The closer link between quality requirements and process management resulted in a stronger process orientation among process owners and employees. The introduction of the integrated management system led to greater efficiency with a view to ISO certification and to additional synergy effects.
