Digitalisation of supplier portal

The aim of our digital transformation consultancy was to design an interactive supplier portal for an automotive manufacturer in order to digitalise and automate the relevant purchasing processes. The aim was to develop a customised solution that would meet the individual needs of the various stakeholders.

Initial situation

The challenge of this consulting mandate lay in harmonising the diverse requirements of all the areas involved, such as purchasing, logistics, development, quality and suppliers.

Solution approach

We actively involved the affected stakeholders in analysing processes and defining goals and requirements in order to ensure a high level of transparency right from the start. Our consultants familiarised themselves deeply with the technical processes and coordinated the necessary interfaces. The prioritised requirements for the digital supplier portal were translated into use cases and described in detail to enable their development and implementation by IT. In addition to the technical and functional requirements, we also developed a prototype for the tool interface. Our consultancy thus made a decisive contribution to the optimisation of supplier management.

Results

The process flows, interfaces and responsibilities between the partners involved are now transparent and clearly defined. The future tool solution has been explained in detail and its user interface and use cases have been coordinated with those responsible. The challenge lay in the insufficient trainer and training facility capacities, which limited the existing training programme. In addition, the aim was to reduce training costs. Our digital transformation consultancy worked on overcoming these obstacles with suitable digital strategies.

In doing so, we analysed the existing further education offerings, defined premises for economic implementation and developed a standardised procedure.
