In order to successfully and sustainably implement far-reaching change in an organisation, strong leadership is required. The prerequisite for supportive leadership in the phases of a SAFe® implementation is a shared vision, combined with the decision in favour of SAFe® as a ‘dual operation system’ and thus for a comprehensive transformation. The challenges associated with the introduction of the principle of creating a balance between a dynamic network in the process organisation in conjunction with a stable functional organisational structure must be understood and accepted. This is because the introduction of SAFe® as a framework has far-reaching effects on the design of value creation, leadership and, last but not least, decision-making in your organisation.

In the workshop, you as a managerial designer can take an in-depth look at the ‘Lean Agile Mindset’. You will learn how this, in conjunction with the SAFe® principles, can affect goal setting and the design of roles and processes in your organisation. You will also recognise the tasks and responsibilities that will be assigned to you personally. You will be able to bring about a management decision as to whether and what added value the introduction of SAFe® as a scaled framework will bring to your organisation. This will enable you to lay the foundation for the start of the transformation.

Analysis of the actual situation
After a ‘check in’, the workshop starts with an analysis of your company's current situation in order to develop a common understanding of the current status and motivation for implementing SAFe®. To this end, both the current organisational structure and the processes are described in order to identify the resulting challenges and pain points.
By jointly describing the organisational structure, processes, challenges and expectations, a common understanding of the current situation is created. On this basis, a common vision and objectives can be developed.
Development of vision and objectives
The second phase of the workshop is about developing a shared vision and objectives for your organisation.
During this phase, the participants develop a common understanding of what specifically is to change through the introduction of SAFe® and how the scaled approach can impact the success of the organisation. This could be, for example, an accelerated market launch of products, higher customer satisfaction, a faster response to changing requirements or an increase in efficiency in product development. Increased employee satisfaction and better collaboration are also possible effects of the introduction of SAFe®.
Basis for decision-making: Is SAFe® the right choice?
In the third phase, participants get to know SAFe® as a framework and thus create a substantive basis for deciding whether SAFe® implementation should be aimed for in the company or whether alternative approaches should be considered.
Participants will gain an overview of how companies in the digital age can use SAFe® to implement an effective ‘second operating system’ in order to ensure and optimise the necessary ‘business agility’ in a dynamic environment. You will learn about the lead-agile mindset as the basis for applying the principles and SAFe® core competences and know what requirements this places on management. With the help of a maturity model, you will evaluate the current agility of the company and be able to identify initial potential for optimisation.
With an insight into the values, principles and core competences of SAFe®, you will be able to make an initial assessment of whether SAFe® is the right framework to achieve the defined objectives.
Shaping change
The basis for decision-making is in place and you as participants have received the necessary information about the SAFe® framework. Now, in the final phase of the workshop, concrete measures are derived in order to be able to make a decision relevant to the change.
Firstly, key areas of action are defined in order to jointly draw up an initial outline of how the change will be organised. We then identify open points together in order to create a concrete action plan and drive the final decision forward. You will find an answer to the question: When and who makes the decision in favour of or against SAFe® and what an approach to communication might look like.
At the end of the workshop, you will have a shared idea of whether SAFe® suits you and your organisation and what action needs to be taken as a result.
